When I received the email that Marcia was running for a Michigan House seat, I squealed out loud like a school girl and immediately reached out to her to record another podcast with us for The Righteous Uproar political podcast. For those of you unaware, Marcia was the Deputy Health Officer of Ottawa County, right up until May 31 of this year. Marcia is a unique bird in the Michigan primary for the 85th House seat. For one, she has gone through the whole fiasco of Ottawa Impact’s attempt at highjacking the Constitution in Ottawa County and declaring themselves the sole determining factor on what is and what isn’t constitutional in Ottawa County.
Secondly, that whole process inspired her to see the light and how her chosen political party isn’t who they claim to be. From Marcia herself, “I’m not particularly interested in party politics. I was raised Republican and voted Republican most of my life. But national and state politics — and my front-row seat to the attempted destruction of our county’s public health services under Ottawa Impact — has changed that. I’m running as a Democrat for the 85th Michigan House because the Republican party has moved away from my long-held beliefs about the kinds of communities we want to build. I’m happy to be welcomed into a party that shares my values.”
Marcia’s platform is directly related to her experirence as the Deputy Health Officer.
